Tiny Tots
Our Tiny Tots program is a loving, nurturing introduction to school. Focusing on separation, sharing and social skills, we provide an opportunity for very young children to play and learn in a safe and age appropriate Torah rich environment. Our teachers use early language and social skill building games, artwork and books to encourage the youngest children in a positive and sensitive way. Class size is small and parent concerns are always important to us. We are happy to assist with toilet training but children need not have reached this milestone to attend.
Nursery
Our program is an integrated, hands-on approach to learning, using experimentation and exploration to build thinking, language, math, social and motor skills in a FUN and challenging environment. Our teachers use various approaches to introduce pre-reading and writing skills. Torah topics, midot and derech eretz are continually emphasized with weekly parsha themes, holiday celebrations and artwork. Confience building and positive reinforcement are critical curriculum objectives. Our teachers are highly trained, warm and nurturing and dedicated to our children.
Pre-K
As preparation for kindergarten, our Pre-K strengthens and develops critical thinking skills and reading readiness through the use of language building activities in an exciting and encouraging environment. Items throughout the classroom are labeled using both Hebrew and English words. Word cards, story paper, language building games and journals are available in the Writing Center as curriculum tools used to introduce reading readiness and encourage language development. The Library center features books that change with weekly classroom topics, exposing children to various types of literature. math is used daily in counting, patterning, and building in our unit block corner. Math is also introduced through special applications, such as a voting booth during election time and tzedaka collection. Science and discovery tables are changed often to reflect class themes and interests. Our large and bright classroom makes our Pre-K a hands-on, multi-faceted learning experience. Individual learning styles and individuality are addressed, giving children the opportunity to progress at their own pace. The program includes daily davening, Torah discussions and lots of fun, emphasizing our commitment to quality early childhood education with experienced and dedicated teachers.
Chalav U'Dvash
We have an acclaimed Hebrew immersion program for all students. Our wonderful Hebrew teacher uses a Board of Jewish Education Hebrew Language curriculum and her own exciting way of communicating with children in Hebrew. A puppet, "Bentzi", a wonderful Hebrew language 'supermarket', lots of visual props and Hebrew games and songs entice children to speak Hebrew in a comfortable and fun way.
Wednesday Explorers Club
Wednesday is a day of enrichment for our Nursery Program. A literature based curriculum combined with a healthy cooking component gives our yeladim the opportunity to expand their creative thinking skills. Our Wednesday program may make a children's book come to life, create a realistic Jewish wedding, engage the children in a 'fishing' expedition, and more. Children will also develop math and science skills such as counting and measuring, adding and subtracting and considering volume and weight as they follow recipes and learn about creating child friendly dishes from healthy ingredients.
Special Programs
Throughout the school year, the children are exposed to various enrichment programs, including theatre trips, nature trips and studies, a school wide Purim Carnival, a meaningful and fun Chanukah celebration and more. For om Ha'Atzmaut (Isreal Independence Day), children go on a special 'trip to Israel', davening at the 'Kotel' and enjoying an Israeli cafe. Visiting Nature Centers bring us animals and programs designed to broaden students' awareness of the environment, nature and conservation. The Living Legacy comes several times a year bringing use the Shofar Factory, a true Olive Press, a Matzah Factory, a Havdalah candle making opportunity and a Torah Factory. Rabbi Yudin visits our classrooms during Shabbos parties and chagim to share a Divrei Torah and speak with the children. Thrips to pick apples in the fall and to a baby animal farm for Lag B'Omer in the spring are springboards for curiosity about the world around us. Parent participation is always welcome and encouraged! We also offer Kinder Soccer - click here for brochure.
Chesed and Community Awareness
Our curriculum introduces our children to communal responsibility through a commitment to Tzedaka and community service. Our school participates in several fund raising endeavors, including Chai Lifeline programs, clothing and shoe drives, and the Bergen County Chanukah Toy Drive. Our Pre-K has planned and executed their own Pesach food drive, by forming committees for banking, shopping, packing and distribution.
